L’École de danse contemporaine de Montréal presents the show entitled Les Danses à deux temps, featuring the students of 1st and 2nd year. For this occasion, artistic and program director Lucie Boissinot has invited choreographers Harold Rhéaume, Kyra Jean Green and Andrew Skeels to create original pieces for large groups. The dancers will be accompanied by the students of the Faculty of Music of the Université de Montréal, under the supervision of Ana Sokolovic.

Kyra Jean Green was born in France, raised in West Palm Beach (FL.), and obtained her BFA in dance from The Juilliard School. She has set choreography on Hubbard Street II (winner of choreographic competition in 2007), Eisenhower Dance Ensemble, Bosma Dance, Cadence Progressive Contemporary Ballet, Companhia Rudá, The Dancers’ Space, and was commissioned by the Kennedy Center to present an evening of her choreography, and to create two Juilliard senior solos. She has also presented work at The Center of Performance Research (Brooklyn NY), CHOP SHOP dance festival (Bellevue, WA), F.A.T. (Fashion Art Toronto), Guelph Contemporary Dance Festival, Dance Conference USA (Miami, FL). Kyra has worked as an artist and assistant director for Companhia Rudá and currently resides in Montreal, working as assistant choreographer, teacher and dancer with Les 7 Doigts de la Main. She was one of 8 choreographers selected to present work for Copenhagen’s Choreographic Competition in August 2016, and was winner of Prix Coup de Coeur du Public at Festival Quartiers Danses.

Andrew Skeels is a Montreal-based choreographer and dancer. His work has been presented by the TanzTheater International Festival in Hannover, Germany, Les Ballets Jazz de Montréal, Les Grands Ballets Canadiens’ À Suivre Program, Colorado Ballet, Festival Ballet Providence, The Museum of Contemporary Art Denver, WestWave Dance Festival San Francisco, and Festival Quartiers Danse Montréal. He is the winner of the 2015 Think Big Choreographic Competition in Hannover, Germany and the 2013 winner of the Prix Coup de Cœur du Public from Festival Quartiers Danse. He is a former dancer with Les Grands Ballets Canadiens and has performed in the works of Jiri Kylian, Mats Ek, Ohad Nahrin, Stijn Celis, Didy Veldman, Marco Goecke, Stephan Thoss, Christopher Wheeldon, George Balanchine, and numerous other choreographers. He received his training at Boston Ballet School and graduated in 2003 as a Sydelle Gomberg Scholarship Student.

Andrew Skeels est un chorégraphe et danseur originaire de Boston (États-Unis) installé à Montréal. Son travail a été présenté au festival international TanzTheater de Hanovre, au Grand Théâtre de Genève ainsi qu’au Théâtre de Suresnes Jean Vilar. Il a créé des œuvres pour les Ballets Jazz de Montréal, les Grands Ballets Canadiens, le Colorado Ballet, Festival Ballet Providence, The Museum of Contemporary Art Denver, WestWave Dance Festival de San Francisco et le Festival Quartier Danse de Montréal. En 2015, il gagne le Think Big Choreographic Competition de Hanovre en Allemagne et en 2013, le prix Coup de cœur du public du Festival Quartier Danse de Montréal. Ancien danseur des Grands Ballets Canadiens, il interprète les œuvres de Jiri Kylian, Mats Ek, Ohad Naharin, Stijn Cells, Didy Veldman, Marco Goecke, Stephan Thoss, Christopher Wheeldon, George Balanchine et plusieurs autres. Formé à l’école du Boston Ballet, il a terminé ses études en 2003 et a reçu la bourse Sydelle Gomberg.
