Effet d'entraînement

Beyond the sensationalist discourse too often carried on our relationship with technology, the team behind Effet d’entraînement questions interactions between humans and non-humans. Inspired by large groups of social animals, eight performers move in reaction to one another. Artificial intelligences analyze their collective comings and goings, and use multiple algorithms to generate a musical interpretation in real time. This meeting between people and device leads them to explore their points of friction, their process of negotiation and acceptance. In this ever-evolving improvised performance, the creative process is the work itself.

Seeking to blur the boundaries between the artwork and the creative process, the work of Collectif LABORARE aims to make its artistic and philosophical stakes visible to the public rather than simply deliver the results. The laboratory that is offered to you proposes an inside view of the training work of the performers as well as the algorithms. They are conceived as collaborative networks between performers, audience, technologies and artistic methodologies whose exchanges allow the emergence of singular aesthetic forms. Collectif LABORARE’s mission with this project is to consider artificial intelligence technologies as partners rather than tools and to operate a mediation for human performers and the public by going as far as training algorithms on stage. Effet d’entraînement thus becomes a semantic space where we can explore together our relationships and the world we live in rather than commenting on them.
