Alexandre Morin + Jessica Muszynski

A choreographer, performer and movement educator, Alexandre Morin develops a practice rooted in contemporary creation and artistic transmission. A graduate of École de danse contemporaine de Montréal, he was awarded the Hnatyshyn Foundation Scholarship in 2011, for promising emerging contemporary dance artists in Canada. As a performer, he has collaborated with several choreographers, including Sylvain Émard, Marie Chouinard, Dominique Porte, Sébastien Provencher, and Chantal Caron. In 2022, he was selected to participate in a choreographic exchange between Québec and Italy, supported by the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec, Circuit-Est, and CSC Centro per la Scena Contemporanea. The 2023–2024 season marked an important milestone in his career with the presentation of three works: Anatomie d’un moteur and Cutting Through the Noise at Agora de la danse, as well as Plasticity/Desires, co-presented by MAI (Montréal, arts interculturels) and La Chapelle Scènes Contemporaines. In 2025, he co-founded Morin/Leroux · Arts vivants with Mathieu Leroux, his creative partner since 2018. Together, they cultivate a practice deeply rooted in contemporary dance while embracing a distinctly transdisciplinary approach. As projects evolve, roles and mediums shift: choreography, stage direction, production design, dramaturgical research and performance all merge into a vibrant and porous co-creation process. Their research is driven by both aesthetic concerns and sharp stage dramaturgy; it is infused with an awareness of pop culture, an attraction to media subcultures, a taste for literary material, and a strong sense of experimentation. Alongside his artistic practice, Alexandre has been a member of the faculty at École de danse contemporaine de Montréal since 2016, where he primarily teaches contemporary dance technique, as well as functional anatomy, dance conditioning, and interpretation on occasion. He also teaches in UQAM’s Dance Department and at École supérieure de ballet du Québec. His pedagogical approach fosters artistic autonomy, curiosity and a deep understanding of movement, guiding performers toward a rigorous, sustainable practice grounded in the realities of contemporary dance creation.

Jessica Joy Muszynski is a dancer and choreographer of Filipino and Polish descent. She began her training in Richmond, BC, before moving to Calgary, AB, in 2012. In 2019, she graduated from the inaugural class of USC Kaufman, where she worked closely with William Forsythe, performing Enemy in the Figure and In the Middle, Somewhat Elevated, as well as works by Crystal Pite, Jiří Kylián, and Alejandro Cerrudo. Since graduating, she has been a member of RUBBERBAND – now in her eighth season – and has also danced with Aszure Barton & Artists, Anne Plamondon Productions, and Vías. Jessica is the founder of JJSI Collective (est. 2020), with works presented at Festival de Danse Contemporaine de Sherbrooke, Tangente’s Danses Buissonnières program, and Festival Quartiers Danses, where she received the Prix Découverte for her piece fam ly. Her choreographic work explores the tensions of conflict – its causes, consequences, and how it sits in the body. Through pieces like Tête-à-Tête and All My Fears, she investigates opposing emotions and aims to create space for audience members to safely inhabit and grieve chaos.
