Jaleesa Coligny

Jaleesa “Tealeaf” Coligny has trained diligently in street dance: 15 years in hip hop and 3 years in krump under the mentorship of several pioneers and community leaders in Montréal and New York. Since 2018, she has been a dancer for the Ebnflōh Dance Company, led by Montréal hip hop pioneer Alexandra “Spicey” Landé. She has also performed for several artists, including Victoria Mackenzie (Never Not Moving aka d**gs), director Phillip Boutin (The Rise of the BlingBling – La Genèse), and Dana Gingras (Creation Destruction and Frontera). Jaleesa is devoted to expanding her global understanding of hip hop culture, closely following its rapid evolution. She is invested in her community and in strengthening her ties with its members and leaders through collaborations and teaching. She is also interested in pushing her expertise in dance theatre while ensuring that her street dance values remain an integral part of her artistic development.

Marco Pronovost

Choreographer, director, and researcher in performance and performing arts, Marco Pronovost particularly delves into the relationship with the audience. His works challenge the fourth wall by taking place directly in the audience’s environment or in unconventional spaces. Also a curator, mediator, consultant, trainer and speaker, he is among the few specialists who address issues of cultural mediation and audience engagement both as an artist and as a theorist. In 2017, Marco was named one of the five Young Canadian Cultural Innovators by the Canada Council for the Arts. A Fellow of the Global Salzburg Seminar in Austria, he holds a master’s degree in development studies from the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Switzerland. Since 2019, he has also been a Fellow of the Lincoln Center Education in New York. He is the author of works on cultural mediation and the use of art as a tool for social development (published by L’Harmattan) and co-edited a book on curating live arts published by Berghahn Books. Marco currently serves as the editor-in-chief of moveo magazine, which focuses on contemporary dance.

Curator & Programming Coordinator

Laurane Van Branteghem (she/her) is a Montréal-based curator, researcher, and writer. She is pursuing a PhD in live arts curation, curatorial ethics and institutional criticism, which allows her to keep one foot in theory and writing while working as a curator, initiating and supporting projects at Tangente. She likes to think of the dance community as an ecosystem that grows and transforms in response to its environment, and is interested in dance as a space for experimentation, encounters, and political reflection. Laurane is also part of the editorial board of moveo and has written for magazines such as JEU, revue de théâtre, Artichaut, and Horizons/Théâtres.
